Mermaid from the Greenland Sea by KelekiahGaladrian Mermaid from the Greenland Sea by KelekiahGaladrian
This picture was drawn and colored in March of 2010.

I referenced this from a picture in a “How to draw anime” book Wulf-chan was borrowing from another friend of ours who was borrowing it from our school library (convoluted, isn’t it XP). I drew it when Wulf-chan was hanging at my house one day and we decided to do some art exercises by referencing pictures in the “How to” book. The actual picture was a very mature woman probably in her 20s or something, so that’s why Sakura looks so mature in just about everything but her eyes and hair.

I don’t like the tail style in Mermaid Melody very much because it’s not very realistic. It looks like a giant piece of fabric or blanket and that bothers me. So, I decided to make it more realistic by following the reference. In actuality, Sakura doesn’t have fins on her arms. That just came with the reference. But she does have them on her tail. I am SUPER proud of the hands. Sure, no fingernails, but I’m REALLY proud of the way they came out :D

Just as a special note for you all, this is my first ever attempt at bubbles. I REALLY like them :D

. . . She’s not wearing her shell necklace. *faceplants* I fail at life.

The hair is strange, but the hands aren't bad. The bubbles are cool too. Those books are really helpful, huh? I have two, though I don't really look at them every often anymore.

Yes, the hair is very strange *faceplants into the floor* Utter failure right here, yeesss.

Indeed they are. I, unfortunately, don't own any anime versions. I have an odd How To Draw book for . . . stuff that my sister didn't want anymore XP

But thanks for teh comment. It makes meh happeh :D

^^;

Oh, really? I once had one for hands and faces (realism) that I don't know if it was ever published or not because it was bound in a weird way. But it was really cool. Hard to transfer into anime style sometimes though, huh?

No problem!

Indeed. I've never been good at any of that stuff. In fact, I can't pin anything in my art style that I do well XP

But you're proud of things your do sometimes, right? That's probably the most important thing.

True. I'm proud of it when it's complete (most of the time), but after I've improved, my pride usually lessens XP Unfortunately.

Yeah, that's usually how it goes, haha. I find it annoying, but it's nice while it lasts
